Hello world, we are back on line!
On June 17th, a strong storm with high wind gusts swept in from the west. There were lots of tree limbs down and it took out our internet receiver. Since 95% of our phone calls are internet based, this really cut off our ability to communicate. For me (Nancy) this past week was very hard as I felt isolated and almost depressed. The gray skies and 98% humidity did not help. I was reminded of many years ago when we went on our first mission assignment in Yarinacocha, Peru. The climate was very similar and there was no way to communicate with the outside world, accept for through a ham radio operator. Which we did twice a month. That was our training field and a very good time in our lives. Now, I really appreciate the advances in technology and being able to communicate with you so freely!
So what’s been going on here? Andy has been repairing equipment, and mowing with the bush hog. Attendance has been low at the men’s prayer breakfast as many folks travel to visit extended family while the children are out of school. Thank you for praying for Liberty and her family. She was released the next day from the hospital. The anti-venom can have some serious side affects and is very hard on your body. It takes about two weeks for it to leave your system, so her parents are resticting her activities and watching Liberty closely. She slept alot the first few days, then seemed to be acting her normal happy self. Now she is getting a rash and is lethargic again. I am sure many of you are wondering how it happened. Liberty loves animals and she has some pet ducks. Ducks love to eat bugs, small lizards and snakes. Liberty and her older sister saw the ducks going after a baby snake (hatchling) and went to rescue the snake. Her older sister actually held the snake safely and when Liberty went to hold it she grabbed it by the tail, which is when it bit her little finger. The pain was intense and traveling up her arm. Her mother put a belt around her upper arm and the mad dash for medical help began. The family is Praising the Lord for sparing Liberty’s life. Please continue to keep them covered in prayer as this has been an emotional roller coaster for them.
Sometime ago, Andy had purchased a large amount of ceramic tile at an auction in the USA for a future project here. Then unknown to us the tile was mistakenly loaded on a shipment going to Africa. So now we have need of the tile for the porch floor and what we have is many different colors, patterns and sizes of tile. A new Belizean friend said, Mr. Andy I know how to lay a “broken tile floor” and I want to do it for you. Three days ago, Joshua started working on this project which is a work of art. Andy says the tiles remind him of people. We all have imperfections and brokeness in our lives. Yet, if we are willing, God can take us as we are and make us into something beautiful and useful. May the Lord use you today.
