Auto shop

Finished September in the Auto Shop with Nick. I really enjoyed this rotation, because it felt like I was learning everyday, and didn’t have idle hands all too often. The last few weeks in the Auto Shop, I handled a lot of miscellaneous stuff, but Nick did have me do a tune up on an old 2000’s Chevrolet van. This included replacing the air filter, fuel filter, and spark plugs. The spark plugs were fairly difficult to persuade into their designated spark plug hole. I also replaced the radiator in that same van. The Auto Shop left an imprint on me for sure, and maybe that’s something that I’ll look into as far as making a living in the future.

Warehouse

Last week marked the end of my warehouse journey until after Christmas break. In the warehouse I learned how to operate the forklift, construct gaylords (wooden boxes built on a pallet), and pick things up and put them down. I didn’t quite get enough hours for my forklift certification this time around, but I will be getting enough time on it the next time I am in the warehouse. This past month feels like it flew by, but overall I enjoyed the warehouse and I’m excited to be working in the Body Shop.

Life

The dorm looks as though three guys have been living in it for the past few months. We’ve gotten to know each other a little better, and that’s led to some bad and some good. It makes it harder when we don’t have vehicles to give us some space from each other. That being said, Sandra and Wyatt have done a great job setting aside some time to hang out and enjoy ourselves. Some days they make dinner and we play board games, and sometimes we go out and do something like bowling or the skating rink. I also like playing ping pong with Wyatt every once in a while.

Church

I’ve been going to Lifeway in Lebanon for the most part. I want to start attending Host church which is where my Uncle goes. I’ve been to Host once, and felt like the Lord was speaking to me through the sermon. They are also in need of a percussionist, so that is something I may look into, as I do play the drums and Cajon. We’ve also been taking part in a weekly class on Mondays called Thrive. It is led by Pastor Matt Swords from ECC. He does a good job, and his sermons seem to be led by the Spirit.

Overall

So far this year, I have been through maintenance, the Auto Shop, the Warehouse, and a little bit of Doug’s Shop. Though all of these vocations are different, there has been a common factor, God. Whether it be by actually ministering to me, or just having a smile on their face, every person that I have run into in the ministry is shining the light in some way.

Prayer

Please pray for my continued growth in the Lord while I am here. I want to leave CMTS with a confidence in God that rivals nothing else. I am being granted all kinds of knowledge, but sometimes it is hard to interpret it all the right way. I am learning that God’s love is foundational, and I pray that it will consume me like I’ve seen it in others.

Also please pray that my homesickness would ease. I miss all of my friends and family, and I’m excited to go back home on Christmas break. Before, it was more of a fear of missing out but now it is more of a genuine missing.

I am still raising support, so if you feel led please consider supporting my EQUIP journey.
