Aidan August Newsletter Equip 2023

About Me

My name is Aidan James Doorn, I’m 18 years old, and I am currently just starting my work at CMTS Ministries as an Equip student. This newsletter will be a bit of a get to know me letter.

I was born and raised in Zeeland, Michigan, and I have lived there my whole life up until now. My parents are both Christians, and they raised me to follow in their footsteps. I was baptized at the age of 11, but I haven’t really been the greatest at following Christ. Over the course of my senior year, through advice from my brother, parents, and some teachers I really respected, they helped me realize that I needed to change something. My last week at my home church in Michigan, the pastor emphasized not being a lukewarm believer, and that has been bothering me ever since. I talked it over with my mother and I decided that I really wanted to solidify my faith while at Equip. This year, I hope to make friends, learn some useful skills, and really make my faith my own.

Some other interesting things about my life include I was homeschooled my entire life. From grade K-12, I never went to a public school.  I did however attend a homeschool co-op in my area where I met some awesome friends. My mother did an awesome job educating me, and putting up with my stupidity for so long. During the last few months of school, mom and I had been searching for a Christian gap year program but none of the ones we could find stuck out to me. While scrolling Google, I saw a website for CMTS Ministries that mentioned a gap year program. My mom didn’t notice it however and she started looking at a different program. I told her to go back and try CMTS’ website. After looking at it, I knew it was the program for me. I applied and now I’m writing to you all from CMTS Ministries Pennsylvania location.

My personal interests include cars and trucks, reading, swing dancing, and playing games with friends.

To all the donors and sponsors who helped get me here, my sincerest thanks, and to all the supporters of CMTS Ministries and Equip, Thank you so much for giving me and these other three students such an amazing opportunity.

Sincerely,

Aidan Doorn
