CMTS NEWS
The big news at the ministry continues to be the warehouse building project. In April the steel structure was completely assembled. Between the large steel hoops, called trusses, there are wooden 2×6’s that tie the trusses together. These braces are called purlins, and the building required almost 500 pieces to be completed. The building kits do not contain these pieces, so a local lumber yard owner donated them plus enough extra to complete other projects as well. Praise God and thank you for all your prayers and support. Please continue to pray as we accomplish more work and start to dive into new areas. If you would like to come help work on the building or the grounds around it, please contact the ministry to schedule a time to come out.
This year CMTS Open House will be on Saturday, July 16th. The day’s activities start at 11am. Lunch is served from 11-1pm and everything is done by 4pm. We will have our barrel train, fire truck rides, all-you-can-eat ice cream, children’s games, bounce house, live music, car show, tours of facility, and of course Andy’s update on the happenings of the ministry. Save the date and please join us for this very special year featuring the progress on the warehouse.
Please pray as we work through the busiest time of the year. Workgroups, summer rush on fleet cars, increased use of buses and vans, open house, property, maintenance, and the top of the warehouse project.
Ministry Spotlight
The CMTS 3rd focus is teaching passion for the Great Commission. Missions trips in the past to Mexico and now Belize are the first things that come to mind for this subject. But let’s not forget Bernville. Every year dozens of people from many different churches, Christian organizations, Christian schools, and individuals come to CMTS to volunteer in unique ways. Because CMTS is a full-time ministry, we have staff here every workday and most Saturdays. This gives Christian volunteers a great opportunity to come out and serve as their schedule allows. There are people who have come out once a week for years to help with things like landscaping, construction, and vehicle title work. Teams like the Boys Belgrade and Berks Christian School come out yearly to help with service projects as hours for their programs. We have professionals like machine operators, mechanics, carpenters, and other trades come out and help with specialized projects we have here. In the past groups of seniors have come out to load shipping containers and fix buildings. We have even had guys come out to use us as community service hours after tangling with the law.
The point is that anyone from any background at any time, for any duration, can come out and serve here with us. Who knows, maybe it will encourage new direction in life. If anyone is interested in knowing more about volunteering at CMTS in any capacity, please contact Andy Merrick or Stephen Nemec. They can discuss service options, accommodations, times, and needed supplies for serving.
