Howdy,
Let me start by saying this may be my last newsletter, because my WIFE and I will potentially be doing joint newsletters from this point on. As always I have a lot to write about from the wedding and honeymoon to regular work life stuff, so might as well get started.
The Wedding
What I am sure everyone wants to hear about and what I want to talk about, the wedding. Obviously there is the cliche but true stuff like “best day of my life” or “it was all a blur” but I can genuinely say this was one of the only weddings I have been to where everyone seemed to have fun, dance around, and actually celebrate. Hannah and I both want to say thank you, for everyone who helped in any way to make this so great, as well as anyone who gave a card or support or prayer in this ordeal.
The week of the wedding, I stayed at a house with all of my groomsmen and it was a blast. Playing Mario Kart, Smash Bros, and watching movies, those memories will be in my head forever. For the honeymoon Hannah and I went on a cruise, Costa Maya, Mexico; Cozumel, Mexico; and Grand Cayman Island. All three of these places were beautiful. We took a jeep on the beach in Cozumel and then went snorkeling! In Grand Cayman, we took a tour of the Island- turns out 43% of the island is owned by one dude, so Mr. Dart if you are reading this hook a missionary up. Surely y’all need a church plant or something right? After some trouble with weather we made it home from the cruise 2 days later than initially planned, but the both of us are back to work at CMTS!
Church Plant
My wife and I discerned that God is calling us into a church plant in Harrisburg! We both separately had been given the impression of interest in the pastor and the church and once we had talked about it, met with the pastor and kept moving forward until we committed to it! With this come two big challenges for us: energy and the drive. Energy, I fully believe God will provide, however if y’all wanna pray for extra we would love it. Gas is not especially cheap these days (even though on
Grand Cayman it was $7 a gallon) so driving nearly an hour there and back at least once a week could be a struggle. While we both believe it is where God has us, and He will provide, we also know He provides through His people.
Sidenote, y’all could also be praying for the church and supporting them. The church is called Total City Church, and right now the biggest prayer requests for them/us would be finding the right building, and finances to get started. We have already exceeded what you “need” to start a church staff wise, but Josiah (the pastor) is shooting for higher than that so also pray for volunteers and staff. We have a social event on March 8th to get involved with the community and meet the people we will be serving and serving with.
Food Fest
While I am pitching stuff I would love to talk about the CMTS Food Fest on March 13. There will be food and ministries from all around the world sharing about what they do, as well as how they are linked with CMTS. Tickets and tables are going quickly and there isn’t much time left to sign up, so if you would like to know more about it please message me and I will get you as much information as I can! I will get to represent YWAM Monterrey and run a table with Tres Leches and Horchata. I love the opportunity to represent both CMTS and YWAM Monterrey.
July Mission Trip
I just signed up to be a part of the CMTS Mexico trip in July. I am so pumped to go back to the base I have spent so much time with, as well as the people and the culture I have lived in. Loosely the plan is to do building projects as well as local evangelism. We will be working with YWAM Monterrey and a rehab center we have known in the area for years. The trip is still open to applications for the rest of this month I believe. The trip cost is $1500 so I will be raising money for that, as He always has I know God will provide.
Work Life
We have really been cleaning up the Warehouse for the beginning of this year. It is very exciting to be gaining more and more space even if it feels slow sometimes. Recently we had a local camp come by and go through almost all of our Lowes donations to see what all they could use.
I always feel blessed when we get to give out the stuff that God gave to us.
Praises & Prayer Requests
Praises
Obviously the wedding, but also just a praise for married life getting to do life together. I finally sold the Audi and used some of that money to pay off the Subaru I bought from the ministry so my car situation is finally figured out!
Prayer Requests
Pray for married life, that we can learn how to live together well and keep Christ at the center always. Pray for the Mexico trip, funds as well as that we can see God moving in the people and our work in that area. Finances as my wife and I figure out costs of living together and joining insurances and banks etc. Pray for the Food Fest preparations and that it would be used to reach people and that we would raise money to continue doing God’s work.
Thank you!
Again, thank y’all for all you do in supporting me with prayer and finances and community. I would not be where I am without your support.
Until Next Time?
Donny
