Isaac’s Inventory | September 2024

Hi everyone, this is Isaac’s Inventory, here’s an update on what has been going on. These have been a busy first couple of months, but it’s been a lot of fun and I’ve learned a lot. During the month of August, I worked in the warehouse, learning the ways of our assistant director Justin. I mostly cleared out old inventory such as furniture and an entire container of old light fixtures. We shipped a container of mattresses and bedding supplies to YWAM St. Vincent where a hurricane recently passed. Hopefully, this will provide some relief to those in need. Justin taught me how to operate the skid steer, a great little machine. He also taught me how to make gaylords (pallet containers).  I started working with Ray and Mike, our maintenance supervisors in September. We took a hydraulic off of the excavator and rebuilt it, now we can use it to move scrap!  Over the past four weeks, we have gotten rid of twelve dumpsters worth of scrap, each weighing around nine thousand pounds. The scrap pile at the top of the hill is completely gone, and we’re now dragging scrap out of the forest and around the warehouse. The funds recieved for the scrap are going to go toward getting ridd of the tire pile. During our scrapping endeavours, I’ve learned how to operate the excavator, use an acetylene torch, and have gotten a lot of practice on the skid steer.

We’ve also been on some fun adventures in our off time. We went white water rafting, go-kart racing, and even learned how to slaughter pigs! We went to a pig farm where we got two defective pigs for free. Nolan shot them and then we took them to a butchering shop to be processed. Most of the meat will be donated to One Luv (a ministry in Reading that hands out food and supplies and shares the Gospel) so that they can give out pulled pork sandwiches. It was an interesting experience to learn where my food comes from. The boys and I have been trying to turn some of the old riding mowers into racing mowers by swapping out the pulleys so that we can rip around the property. We spent the third week of September at Circle K. A summer camp, not the convenience store. We felled and burned many dying trees around the camp and refinished a few of the tables. The other Equip guys and I have been going to Tuesday morning prayer breakfast at Pine Grove Community Church most weeks which is a great time of fellowship, discussion, and time with The Lord.

Sam and I are reading a book called Always Ready for our Foundations class, a book for which I need to have a dictionary open when reading because of the complex vocabulary of the author. It’s a book about apologetics, and it’s been interesting to learn about epistemology from a Biblical standpoint. We finished up our class on Ephesians, which taught us who we are in Christ and what we are called to do because of that. This class is a great weekly reminder of how and why we are to live like Christ. We started reading Crazy Love by Francis Chan which addresses the problem of lukewarm Christianity and explores God’s relentless love. We had our last class on reaping what you sew last night. It was an insightful class about making plans for the future, taking action, and being flexible to change according to God’s will.

Please pray for me to grow stronger in my faith and for direction from God.

Godspeed

– Isaac
