Greetings friends and family, ONE month to go!
Since the last time I gave an update a lot has happened. In the month of February, Aidan, Isaac, Caleb, and I, along with some of the other staff here at CMTS, went to Mayreau in St. Vincent & the Grenadines to help the local YWAM base with rebuilding a cabin that was destroyed in the July hurricane. In the evening, we would hold events for the local kids in the neighborhood. We also would go to the beach and spend hours there. We went lobster hunting one time and caught about a dozen. We also had the opportunity to go throughout the neighborhood and help out anyway we could and pray and talk with the locals. It was a great time.
Once we got back we had about a month till we headed for Mexico. During this time Isaac and I finished Experiencing God with Tricia and started a new class called Multiply by Francis Chan about making Disciples. We finished Monday classes with Pastor John, and Justin Darnell is now teaching a class called Life of Christ.
I finished working with Doug in the Auto Body Shop and moved to the Warehouse with Justin. There I finished up my forklift training. Nothing major happened while there but getting ready for Mexico. I moved to the mechanic shop with Nick and I’m there for another two weeks.
Last week we were in Mexico again with a local YWAM base. We did evangelism the first three days. We went through the neighborhood handing out Bibles and Spanish tracks, praying for them and just sharing the love of God. Later in the week we built a house with Homes for Hope for a family of four. It was a great time working alongside the YWAM guys and getting to know them better. As we built the house we also got to know the family better. At the end of the build, we had a key ceremony where we all got the chance to hold the key and say a blessing over the family and the house. We then gave the family the key for them to enter the house themselves, and after a bit we would knock and be their first guests. The emotions that were in the air were profound. This family we built the house for didn’t know Christ but the love of Christ that was in us radiated out upon them. We had the opportunity to share the love of Christ to the family and to show that even though it felt like now one saw her and her family, there was the God of the universe and that He saw her and loves her.
After Equip, I’m hoping to get a job somewhere where I can be a light and interact with people. I’m also planning on taking weekend classes to become an EMT. I might work for another year before heading off to a local Bible College to get my pastoral degree and join the Air Force ROTC (Recruiting Officer Training Corp.) to pursue the career as a Pararescueman.
