“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” Mat. 5:16
Equip Update
September marked the student’s first mission trip of the year. They spent a week at Circle K, a local camp with which Pine Grove Community Church is affiliated. The students renovated the Pastor’s cabin, cut down dead trees, and repaired one of the bridges, among other small projects to help maintain the camp. They also built relationships with each other and with Jesse who is from Holland and will be staying with us for 7 weeks. The 4 students switched vocations, but during the second half of the month, they all worked hard to repair the roof of the main house with staff and volunteers.
Starting in October, Nolan Lapp and Joel Smith will be visiting local Christian schools to present about the Equip program as an option for graduating seniors. Please pray that God would open doors and use this time to be fruitful in providing future students and relationships with the teachers and leaders there. If you know of a school at which we could speak, please email equip@cmtsministries.com for more information.
Around the Ministry in Bernville, PA
Nick VanWert and Sam Adams gained Aidan in the Automotive Shop, where he will help work on vehicles for missionaries, pastors, and ministry leaders. Caleb spent the weekend after the mission trip helping to fix the dump truck which would be necessary for the roofing project, seeking guidance and advice from Nick’s expertise. After finally getting the truck to work, the second dump truck unfortunately broke down, so we are grateful for the experience he is gaining. Doug Sylva has been teaching Logan how to prepare missionary vans for Righteous Rides, while also working on repairing staff vehicles.
In the Warehouse, Justin Darnell, Johnny Debkowski, Donovan, and the volunteers have been sorting the many donations we’ve received in the past couple weeks. In one shipment, we received a large quantity of blue Takis™, a spicy chip that Justin was unsure of how to distribute. God knew what He was doing though; Justin contacted a ministry in Reading that gives out food and other items while presenting the gospel to school-age students. The students attending love these chips, and are more likely to be present if they know they will receive them. This means that more people will be able to hear the gospel and potentially be saved because of some spicy blue chips. Even the smallest things can be used to glorify God!
Sandra DaMore has moved on campus and is settling into her position as Hospitality and Outreach Coordinator. We are excited to see how she will build relationships with other ministries and further the current relationships. Ray Pete has been working to fix the different staff dwellings, along with remodeling Trailer 2 for the roofing crew. We were blessed to have a team of 3 people from Mexico, a volunteer from Missouri, and a volunteer from Brookville, PA, join us for 9 days. Four of the crew, Joel and Danielle Smith worked with on their Costa Rica trip in June, and the fifth has been involved in CMTS for many years. Between them, the students, and the staff, we have been able to finish a necessary and important project for a low-cost, that will benefit the future.
Belize
Andy and Nancy Merrick were in from Belize for the month. They were able to visit churches, friends, and supporters and share about all that’s been happening in Belize. While here, the office was able to get a link to their newsletter on the website. If you haven’t signed up for their newsletter yet, we highly encourage you to sign up so you can get regular updates!
