Dear Family and Friends,
Greetings. Psalm 103 reminds me of many wonderful benefits that we have in God; “Bless the Lord O my soul and forget not any of His benefits; who forgives all your iniquities, who heals all your diseases; Who redeems your life from destruction; who crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.”
What a wonderful God we serve! This month CMTS is starting a gap year program for young people out of high school. We are starting out with four students to see how things go, it will be new for all of us. Some of the dorm rooms in the farm house have been converted into a small living and kitchen area. Hilda has also been involved in getting things ready so the students will have everything they need to live. The program is called Equip; these students will give up a year to prepare themselves for God’s calling in their lives.
Mornings will be lead by gifted Bible teachers and counselors. In the afternoons, the students will be involved in the different parts of services here. This means I will have one student per quarter in the body & detail shop to teach mentor and disciple. I will be focusing on beginning auto body; welding, basic dent repair, and paint prep, also car detailing techniques. My goal is that they would be able to have the knowledge to keep their own vehicles lasting longer. I am excited to see how the Lord is going to work this all out.
There is a couple on staff who will be dorm parents to fill in the void of the kids being away from home. During the students’ year they will be doing two short mission trips, one here in the States and another abroad. Kai is also one of the students in the Equip program, we are glad that he is willing to take this challenge.
In our family, Hilda and I are happy to announce the birth of our seventh grandchild! Her name is Alexandra Clarke. born to our son Maika & Sophie. Maxwell now is a big brother!
You can share in our ministry by praying for the following:
- Wisdom for Hilda & I as we teach, mentor and disciple.
- Open hearts for the students to hear and know
- Gods’ voice in their lives.
- We as a team to continue in unity.
- Hilda and I thank all you for your prayers, we sure need to be lifted up, and we thank those who have blessed us financially.
Love, Doug, Hilda and Kai Sylva.
