Dear Friends & Family,

Greetings, It is winter here in Pennsylvania; As I shovel a foot and a half of snow from our driveway I thought to myself: “I could have never imagined this growing up”. I do thank the Lord for the opportunity to serve here, knowing that being in God’s will is always good. Seeing what Jesus is doing in our hearts and in the people that we work with, is always encouraging. What we see is temporal, the unseen is eternal. I am reminded that it is about things above and not things on earth.

In this phase in my life I have more to think about than just fixing cars; there are needs of the Equip students and some of the guys from the rehab center that come and help out. As mentors and teachers we connect with each person in different ways. Car guys seem easy, someone else who likes poetry and computers is very different; yet it is exciting to see how God works through all believers to reach people for Christ. Hilda and I are thankful to have a part in ministering to these young men!

One man who went through the rehab program shared about receiving Jesus, his wife also is now saved, together they are serving our Lord; and are reaching out to others.

Twice a month, Hilda, Kai and I have been helping with an inner city ministry in Reading. One Luv ministry reaches out to the poor, the addicts, the refugees and the homeless. They are invited to a church service where the gospel is preached and after the service they can come and get food, clothing, and personal items. A lot of the goods come through donations from CMTS. We gave out 500 new pairs of snow boots, belts, toys and toiletry items.

At the end of every service we have seen 15 to 20 people come forward to receive Christ, to receive healing and deliverance. It has been so encouraging to serve there.

You can be a part of this ministry by praying for us:

  • That we will know how to minister to each student, and that they may find God’s calling for their lives.
  • For the young men who are in recovery that they may trust Jesus as Savior and deliverer.
  • For Hilda & myself as we travel to Holland to see family and our Church in April.
  • For the people that come to One Luv ministry.

We praise God for meeting our needs and blessings of health to live for Him. Thank you all for sharing and praying for us.

Love, May the Lord bless you, Doug and Hilda Sylva.
