There is a lot of big news at the mission this month. First, the warehouse building project permit has been issued! We are shooting for the end of February, beginning of March on breaking ground. The next hurdle is digging the trench for the footer. If anyone is in construction or knows someone who is and would like to get involved, please contact us.
Basically a fairly precise trench needs to be dug that’s 80 by 100. Please pray that God sends the resources to dig the trench and more resources and volunteers for the other aspects of the project. Keep checking the CMTS Facebook page for updates and pictures of the progress.
This year’s Belize trip was very successful and the planning part of it was extremely smooth. The staff all worked together; trucks were packed and checked over early. An excellent crew of drivers drove down and the border crossings required some work but went well on both the Mexican and Belize ends. Every year we learn a little more and get a little better at the Belize trip. Again, check Facebook for updates and pictures of the work there. Please pray for safety as people travel back to the U.S., and for success and unity for the team serving at CMTS Belize. In the next month or so we will be gearing up for the summer fleet car rush. Ministry Spotlight
Our second focus at CMTS is training and discipleship. Some of our interns come to us from Christian recovery programs like America’s Keswick, Teen Challenge, and Hope Rescue Mission. These men have all graduated from a recovery program but are still in need of godly help and encouragement. About a year ago the CMTS administration recognized a need for more deliberate, focused, and regular discipleship for these men. A longtime friend of Andy’s and recipient of CMTS programs is Pastor Sam Wajan. Sam is a Kenyan pastor who loves Jesus, studied biblical counseling, and has a heart for these men. Sam has been coming out to the ministry every Friday and doing a one-hour, one-on-one session with everyone in need of his services. All the men who meet with Sam have shown incredible improvement in their spiritual and emotional health as well as overall attitude and work ethic.
Another program we are trying to start is to match all the interns who come from a difficult background with a local accountability partner. Our plan is to have the men attend a local church and have that pastor, assistant pastor or elder meet with them regularly and call them out if the church is being ignored. We do daily weekday staff devotions at lunch and a Thursday morning staff Bible study to also encourage spiritual growth.
