Another month, another newsletter. Compared to the last time I wrote, not a whole lot happened. But I’m going to tell y’all anyway. I started off February poorly by taking out a fence. On my way home from Church, I lost control of my car when a car pulled out of a driveway I didn’t see. Luckily everyone (except for the fence) was uninjured. God definitely protected me and everyone else involved. My insurance helped cover the costs of the fence, and the repairs my car needs but this was a great opportunity for God to teach me a lesson in responsibility. Joel and Nolan both talked with me after the incident and helped me realize my speeding habits and irresponsible driving were just selfishness and pride and the accident was just the consequences of long-time selfishness.
In a twist of good fortune though, I moved vocations into the mechanics shop so any issues my car might have I can address. I’m really enjoying the time in the shop. So far, Nick let me tinker with an automatic transmission and a spare engine he had lying around. Sam and Nick make working in the shop even more fun than it would normally be. The back-and-forth teasing is an endless source of laughter. As well as being silly, Sam and Nick both have a lot of practical biblical knowledge. I am so blessed to be surrounded by so many wise believers and teachers.
As of late, there has been a lot of sickness in the mission. Caleb and Logan were both out of vocation for a week and Donnie has been on and off with sick and good enough to work. Please pray that the rest of the people at the mission will stay healthy.
Even with sickness rampaging through the campus, we are still having tons of fun. We went to the great outdoor show with Nolan for an adventure trip. If I had to describe it in one sentence it was hillbilly heaven. We were surrounded by handguns, rifles, scopes, hunting equipment, ammo, ATVs, and trucks to list a few. It was so much fun and we all thoroughly enjoyed our time there. On top of the outdoor show, we got snow again. So much snow that it took out our power for a whole day. So obviously we did the mature thing and went to war in the snow. The Darnells, Smiths, all of us Equip students, Hannah, Sandra, Nolan, and Kai had a legendary snowfight. It was a blast and a great opportunity to fellowship with each other and enjoy the snow. The shenanigans continued into the evening where a lot of the kids gathered in the house without power to enjoy the darkness in a game of hide and seek. It was a nice way to make light of an inconvenient situation. Luckily our power came the next day right as lunch started.
On top of having fun, I am also growing spiritually. A recent meeting about our Mexico trip helped me realize how ill-prepared I really am for the mission trip. Please pray about our time in Mexico and for the people we minister to. On top of the upcoming Mexico trip, pray for me as I am still struggling with anger issues and pride. Recently I have made Ephesians 4:27 my motto. It says “Don’t give the devil an opportunity.” This verse has been a great reminder that it’s our choice as Christians to let the devil win and only by the power of Scripture and the Holy Spirit can we resist temptation. The longer I am here at CMTS, I become more certain that God wants me here. I am so blessed by the staff, and students around me.
